On a hot day sometimes all you can think about is a cold bevvy – especially an ice-cold shake or smoothie to take the edge off.
One such day my kids were desperate for an after-school treat, they were hot, cranky, thirsty and hungry all at once. It was also that tricky after 3 time of day when some places are packing up.
We found ourselves piling in to the very cute ‘Mr Cup’ on Junction Street.
They have an adorable gelato cart at the door, a range of smoothies and sweet Korean treats and even Fried Chicken (which is apparently has a cult following but I’m yet to sample this delicacy).
My kids each ordered a fruit smoothie and were thrilled at the size of them. The prices were very reasonable too.
‘Let’s Get Sippin’ is another kid pleasing option we tried the following week after school pick up and before a long list of extracurricular activities.
My kids are obsessed with Acai bowls (the second worst financial decision I ever made after introducing them to sushi), so they were thrilled about these options and the range of generous toppings.
The store manager is very passionate about his work, he remembers repeat customers names and orders and even asked us for feedback on the mango to milk ratio in the Mango Tango we ordered so he can perfect his recipe!
They also have loaded protein smoothies on the menu and loaded nutrition teas in flavours like killer python and nerds that make my mouth tingle just thinking about them.
We will be back if I can tear myself away from some other local favourites long enough including:
- Iced coffee from Hyper Hyper
- ‘The Horse’ acai smoothie from Blak Cede
- Fresh Juice from Deli in Kinghorne
