Hometown Hotspots

So you are showing a friend around Nowra for the first time, what do you do?

I’ve actually been in this situation before. I had a school friend I hadn’t caught up with for well over a decade who’d been living abroad and working in high flying executive jobs all over the world. I’d just had a baby and we had a 2-hour kids free window between feeds to catch up while he was in the region.

So what did we do?

First stop was of course coffee. We sat perched on a rock at Hyper Hyper Coffee in North Street getting up to date while laughing about old times. From there we walked the mural trail visiting the larger-than-life painted images on iconic buildings in Nowra featuring iconic Shoalhaven figures – painted by now famous artists.

We walked and talked down the main street, up past the historic Meroogal House and down the back of the showground for that magical vista of the river before saying our goodbyes.

It was a beautiful day that I honestly think left nothing but a good impression of our town.

Where would you take your friend or if you too have been in this situation before, what did you do?
