I’ve seen some of you…
We occasionally peer over our laptops at each other in Nowra CBD, smashing down a dirty chai while we attack a report for 40 minutes before our next face to face meeting.
Occasionally we have more time to fill in and want to do a deep dive so we’ll head to the air conditioned luxury of Nowra Library where you can also conveniently duck to the loo, fill up your drink bottle, pick up some new books or sit and stare at the sky through the large windows as you plan what’s next.
Yep, sole traders, creatives, entrepreneurs, whatever we call ourselves we’re out there and many more are giving up that fixed office address in favour of flexibility but not everyone knows all the spots and spaces you can go so hopefully this list helps you out…
Cafes
*The multi award winning Blak Cede is a personal favourite café of mine, great coffee, food and atmosphere, outside peak times you can grab a bench seat and work away with some great music drowning out the noise of others, or if meeting a group for a meal it’s best to book ahead.
*Deli on Kinghorne has a lot of space with plenty of tables inside and out plus a toilet so you don’t have to make a dash, which is always handy.
*Book and Burrow also on Kinghorne Street is quiet and even has a small outdoor area around the back (and bathroom) – perfect if you’re juggling kids as well.
*The Tea Club has salads you’ll want to try at least once, fresh muffins and loads of space out the back with a giant avocado tree towering overhead.
*The Forage on Berry also has some great salads (Thai chicken vermicelli salad… trust us!) and a cozy vibe
*Decadence Cake Store also has seating and is great for that sugar fix you need to keep on going!
*Two Brown Men is below the Quest apartments if you want to spice up your life with some delicious and authentic Indian cuisine.
*Farmgate is a hop, skip and a jump away and takes you past the green space of Harry Sawkins Park. This restaurant has great food, a liquor license for boozy lunches (or dinner in the evening) and a beautiful leafy outlook. (Its best suited for personal or working lunches as opposed to freelance working.)
In between all of that you of course have the Nowra Library with desks available free of charge, free internet and community facilities and meeting room hire at very affordable rates: https://www.shoalhavenlibraries.com.au/Using-the-library/Book-a-meeting-room
And of course, the impressive Shoalhaven Regional Gallery is next door with lots of options as well (we may have hosted a giant party in the courtyard there and booked a room for drop-in sessions that ran very smoothly – all conveniently located in the heart of town). https://www.shoalhavenregionalgallery.com.au/Visit/Venue-hire
If a dedicated hot desk or room hire is what you need so you can be sure it’s ready to go when you need it most there are a few options available:
*Ripe Mentoring Hub is an Indigenous Business Incubator upstairs in the Holt Centre of Kinghorne Street they have hot desks and board room hire options available by emailing admin@ripementoring.com.au or calling 02 44472185. Prices start at $50 for a half day desk ($35 for students).

*Down the Hall South Coast Therapy and Support Group www.sctherpaysupport.au have some great options as well; an office space and board room. You can book these online with prices starting at $12 per hour (and word on the street is they try to make it free for Shoalhaven Business Chamber members where possible so if you’re a Nowra 100 member that now includes you!)
