A group of dedicated young business owners has successfully pitched for a share of the NSW Government’s Uptown Grant Program.
The program offers new applicants up to $200,000 to enhance town centres through place-based collaboration, branding and storytelling within districts.
‘Team Nowra’ has this week been announced as a successful recipient of the Uptown Grant Program. The team attended workshops in Wollongong hosted by the Office of the 24-Hour Economy Commissioner as part of the Uptown Accelerator, and delivered a unique pitch at the Uptown District Showcase 2024 in Sydney – showcasing the character and potential of Nowra CBD.
Team Nowra will now work as a subcommittee of the Shoalhaven Business Chamber developing plans to activate the Nowra CBD through events, promotions, unique branding and messaging.
Team Nowra spokesperson and Shoalhaven Business Chamber Manager, Alison Henry says this is an exciting win for Nowra:
“The time is now for Nowra. We can’t wait to use these funds to showcase the character and potential of our town and we have a passionate team who are dedicated to making a difference.
“Baron Hanson from Be Here Nowra has been instrumental in getting us this far, as has Jessica Bromley from Good Things Organic (formerly Bomo Bulk), George Bishop from El Horses, the team at Innovisuals, and so many others have formed a grassroots campaign to inject new life into a place we all call home and care deeply about.
“We are grateful to Member for South Coast Liza Butler MP who has been a great supporter of this initiative, and we look forward to unveiling more in the near future.”
